The use of Polarimetric AIRSAR (POLSAR) data for characterising mangrove communities
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Mougin et al. (1999) and Proisy et al. (2001, 2002) demonstrated, through observation and simulation, the capacity of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for quantifying the biomass and structure of mangroves in French Guiana. In this preliminary study, we aimed to establish whether similar backscatter characteristics were observed for mangroves in northern Australia. AIRSAR data were acquired for the French Guiana and northern Australian mangroves in 1993 and 1996 respectively.

The Data Calibration of the AIRSAR PacRim II Mission
In this paper, we present the calibration results of the NASA/JPL Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (AIRSAR) for the Pacific Rim II mission. We also demonstrate the key elements of the calibration techniques for both polarimetric SAR (POLSAR) and cross-track interferometric SAR (TOPSAR) processed with the AIRSAR Integrated Processor.
متن کاملImproved POLSAR Image Classification by the Use of Multi-Feature Combination
Polarimetric SAR (POLSAR) provides a rich set of information about objects on land surfaces. However, not all information works on land surface classification. This study proposes a new, integrated algorithm for optimal urban classification using POLSAR data. Both polarimetric decomposition and time-frequency (TF) decomposition were used to mine the hidden information of objects in POLSAR data,...
متن کاملGaofen-3 PolSAR Image Classification via XGBoost and Polarimetric Spatial Information
The launch of the Chinese Gaofen-3 (GF-3) satellite will provide enough synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images with different imaging modes for land cover classification and other potential usages in the next few years. This paper aims to propose an efficient and practical classification framework for a GF-3 polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) image. The proposed classification framework consists of four ...
متن کاملOptimum Ensemble Classification for Fully Polarimetric SAR Data Using Global-Local Classification Approach
In this paper, a proposed ensemble classification for fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data using a global-local classification approach is presented. In the first step, to perform the global classification, the training feature space is divided into a specified number of clusters. In the next step to carry out the local classification over each of these clusters, which cont...
متن کاملImproved Target Detection in Polarimetric Sar Images by Use of Mellin Kind Statistics
We present a modified version of the polarimetric whitening filter (PWF) for target detection in single-look complex images captured by polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR). The modified version enables the derivation of the sampling distribution of the PWF under several product model distributions for the polarimetric scattering vector. Specificly, a constant false alarm rate (CFAR) ...
